Discouraged
I've been struggling. For the past couple of weeks I've been going through some dark valleys in my Christian experience. Sometimes there's seemed to be a wall between me and and real communion God, and I don't know what to do about it. I'm finding it hard to get up in time to have a meaningful devotional and prayer life. Sometimes, when I've been reading or hearing certain stories, I ask myself if I could go through the suffering these people do for my beliefs. And I don't think I could. I hate that, because I really want to stand strong for God no matter what... I want to really, deeply believe what I believe so that it's worth more than life to me. So please just pray for me.

Hi! I just "stumbled" across this blog, but I now it was no mistake; I was led here. I can definitely relate to your dilemma. We have to remember that the Christian life is a constant struggle: a struggle to gain the victory against self and to resist temptation. The good news is that Jesus will help us! He promised He would never leave us nor forsake us. We can't do this on our own! My sister, it is imperative that you wake up and have devotion. Speak to the Lord first thing in the morning, and your spiritual life will improve. Consecrate yourself to Him daily. Tell Him your troubles and your fears. Ask for His help. Through communication with God, we are empowered. When your relationship with God becomes more meaningful through communion, you will find yourself wiling to die for what you believe in. He will reveal Himself to you in so many ways! You will be so convinced and steadfast in your faith that you will become willing to die for it, knowing that you have hope for a better future. You are in my prayers, my sister! :-) I wish you all the best.
ReplyDeleteMaranatha!
Thank you very much for your words and your prayers, I really appreciate it. You will also be in my prayers :)
ReplyDeleteLynette,
ReplyDeleteWe will be praying for you. At all cost continue to speak to God and at all cost continue to let your mind steep in the Living Word. And at all cost share your faith. But, we will be praying.
love,
Joseph
Lynette, read the book Scott Moore gave us, Communion With God. It will encourage you. Praying for encouragement for you. For real.

Lynette - what suffering do you mean and by whom? If you mean Christians that suffer, surely you do not have to be a martyr in order to love God?
ReplyDeleteRegardless, it is perfectly natural to feel doubt every now and then - and you have every right to question these things.

I'm also curious about what you said about wanting religion to be 'worth more than life' to you - surely the two are intertwined but not interchangeable? In order that religion truly means something should it not have its place in your life, your family and relationships - and not have religion AS you life? For example, if you are ill, you can't just pray for healing; you have to see a doctor and take medicine. When you pray for help in something, it's important you go out and attempt to fix it yourself... and through that willing attitude hope your God will give you a hand.
ReplyDeleteI think it's a dangerous attitude where you put people and things in your life on hold in place of your religion - faith should be compatible with all those things, shouldn't it?
I always felt that faith should be rejoicing in life.
