okey, im confused here, david told us in the apologetics class that life begets life and that there have never been a case where life has come from nonelife, but today i spoke with a gentleman who insisted that they have done experiments in switserland where life has come from nonelife...
help me out here, what to could i tell him?
hes an agnostic guy, but grew up in the catholic church and does not want to have anything to do with organized church or religion, he doesnt need a God to give him any moral standards and he doesnt need answers to origin meaning morality or destiny...he is content not to know and believes that if theres anything after death hell find out when he gets there...
burn the Bible and how can you base any thruth on the Bible, what is truth by the way and what is a prophecy...!? church and religion is for people who do not use their brains, who do not think...
this is the time when you wish you had studied more than i have!
any advice will be accepted with gladness and thanksgiving, he wants to talk/discuss more before i leave...
thanks!:)

First, I'd challenge him to back up his claim that a study exists proving it. It's one thing to say it, but if he can't prove it, it's a worthless argument.
ReplyDeleteI think the problem with him, as with most people, is that evidence is not the issue. He's not going to be convinced by argument, but by the heart-work of the Holy Spirit.
Perhaps the best approach with him would be to get to the heart of the issue. What is it that has him disconcerted with Christianity? What turned him away? That might help give you a better idea of how to approach it.
Yeah, it might not be that his atheism is such a good idea, but that the brands of christianity he's been exposed to were such bad ideas that they made atheism look good.
ReplyDeleteBeaut advice guys, like you said Ben evidence isn't going to be what convinces him.
ReplyDeleteSara if he will let you talk, just share what Jesus has done for you. I have seen several hard-hearted people start to melt when I tell them what I know about the grace of Christ. You can see them start to wish they had something like that in their own life.
maybe you could point out to him that great scientists such as Robert Boyle, Johann Kepler, Isaac Newton, were all two things: Bible believing Christians and incredible intelligent scientists that all modern scientists revere or are at least influenced by.
